R U MY
Share housing · Melbourne's inner-north first

Never live with a stranger again.

R U MY

Rumy matches you with the people you'd actually live well with — compatibility you can see, phone verification you can check, and the room follows. Because the hardest part of a share house was never the floorboards.

Why this, why now

Uber made strangers' cars normal.

Airbnb made strangers' homes normal for a night.

Rumy does it for the place you actually live.

Rumy conversations — chats with matched housemates, each showing their compatibility
How it works

Three things, done properly.

Everyone else lists rooms and leaves you to guess about the people. Rumy is built the other way around.

Setting up a Rumy profile

Verify.

Rumy phone-verifies its members — the badge means a real, reachable person, and it can't be bought. Photos are reviewed before they're shown anywhere.

Match.

Sleep windows, tidiness, guests, noise, rhythm — the things that actually decide whether a house works. Rumy measures the overlap and shows you why you fit, not just that you do.

Compatibility you can see

Rate.

The part we're building toward: after you've actually lived together, you'll rate how it went. Real outcomes from real households, feeding back into every match after yours.

The long game

You don't share a house once. You do it for years.

Uni. First job. New city. The breakup. The saving-for-a-deposit years. Share housing isn't a phase — for most people it's a long stretch of adult life, and every move means rolling the dice on strangers all over again.

Rumy is built to stay with you across all of it. Your profile, your verification, your compatibility picture — they carry to the next house, and the one after that. Matches like the apps you keep, built to never be deleted.

First share house → last one. Rumy rides along.

Trust & safety

Honest by design.

Trust isn't a badge you slap on a profile. It's a set of habits — here are ours.

Phone verification

Verified on Rumy means one thing: a confirmed phone number — a real person you can actually reach. Not "pre-screened", not vague promises. Look for the badge.

Photos reviewed first

Photos are checked before they appear anywhere on Rumy. What you see has been looked at by the platform, not just uploaded into the void.

Real numbers or none

If Rumy shows you a count, a median or a percentage, it comes from data we can stand behind. When a sample is too small to be honest, we publish the count only — or nothing.

Report, and it's handled

Anything off — a listing, a photo, a person — can be reported in a tap. Reports go to a human, and verified status is never sold or skipped.

What we don't claim: Rumy doesn't vet anyone's past — no police checks, no rental-history screening — and we won't pretend otherwise. Stronger ID verification is on the roadmap; until it ships, "verified" means exactly what it says today: your phone, confirmed.

Pricing

Free to find your people.

Matching, messaging and browsing cost nothing. Pay only when you're in a hurry — and one-offs are one-offs, not surprise subscriptions.

Questions

Fair asks.

What is Rumy?
A housemate-matching platform for shared living. Instead of scrolling room ads and hoping, you match with the people first — phone verification, compatibility across the things that actually decide whether a house works — and then the room. We match people, not just rooms.
Where does Rumy work?
Melbourne first — starting in the inner-north, around Brunswick, Carlton and Fitzroy, then suburb by suburb from there. We'd rather be genuinely useful in one place at a time than thinly spread everywhere. You can see the market picture for 73 Melbourne suburbs right now.
What does "verified" mean on Rumy?
Today it means phone-verified: a profile with the badge has confirmed a real, reachable phone number, and photos are reviewed before they appear. Stronger ID verification is on the roadmap — and until it ships, we won't call anything verified that isn't. We don't vet anyone's past, and we won't pretend otherwise.
How much does Rumy cost?
Free to join, match and message. In a hurry? Boost is A$7.99 one-off, Ring is A$12.99 one-off. Rumy+ is A$29.99/month and Landlord Pro is A$39.99/month. Prices in AUD — and one-offs are genuinely one-off.
I've got a room — how do I list it?
Head to rumy.online, create your listing and tell people who you're looking for. On Rumy, seekers see the household — the people, not just the floorboards — so honest listings do better.
When does the app launch?
The iOS and Android app is coming. The web app at rumy.online is live today — browse rooms, list a room, take the housemate quiz. Leave your email and we'll tell you the day the app lands.
